These two venues are side by side. If you
are travelling from the North, East or West first make your way to Foxdale.
Drive through Foxdale and head South, Castletown/Airport direction. The road out
of Foxdale is a steep hill, keep going right to the top. As the road starts to
level, take your next right turn sign posted Port Erin. Proceed along the road
until you reach Rushen Mines on your right hand side. The Mine Stack is clearly
visible. At this point turn right over the cattle grid and follow the road
straight ahead.
If you are traveling from the South go into the centre of
Colby Village until you see the village clock on the bridge. Take this road
(Colby Glen Road) all the way to the crossroads at the very top just past South
Barrule. At the crossroads turn right and follow the road until you see the
Rushen Mines Stack on the left. At this point take the left turn and proceed
over the cattle grid and follow the road straight ahead.
In front
of you and slightly to your right you will see a communication aerial, keep
going straight ahead. You will now drop down a steep road and then climb a steep
hill. Almost at the top of the hill you will see a track on the right hand side
leading to the communication tower This is Carnagrie.
Alternatively if you
take the track on the left this is the way to Arrasey Plantation.
Terrain
Carnagire is moor land which is popular with run-around
trials. This is an enjoyable venue for newcomers but can be quite tricky in wet
conditions.
Arrasey Plantation is a large typical plantation with lots of
banks and gullies. There are no river areas here but usually there are logs
stacks that can make for an interesting trial.
Parking and
Accessibility
At
Carnagrie the parking is along the lane keeping to the side. Also there is a
small amount of parking on the opposite side of the road leading to Arrasey.
This is a spectator friendly venue.
At Arrasey when a trial is on the gates
to the plantation are open into what is a large car park. Spectators will have
quite a long walk down to the sections from here. Even though there is a road
leading down to the venue I would not advise this with anything other than a
four-wheel vehicle. Also some sections are sometimes set out in the lower car
park.
