If you are travelling from the north,
east or west, firstly make your way to Foxdale. Drive through Foxdale and head
south (Castletown/airport direction). The road out of Foxdale is a steep hill,
keep going all the way to the top. As the road starts to level take your next
right turn, this is sign posted for Port Erin. Proceed along the road passing
Rushen Mines on your right. At the Round Table crossroads turn left, sign posted
Colby. (Straight on to Port Erin, right to Peel). Proceed down the road past the
Cringle plantation on your left. Approximately half a mile from the end of the
plantation is the venue on the brow of the hill just before the bend.
If
travelling from the south go into the centre of Colby village until you see the
village clock on the bridge opposite Colby Methodist church. Take the road
alongside the clock (Colby Glen Road) and proceed along the narrow road and up
the hill. Keep going for quite a while until you see a right turn sign posted
for Ballabeg B42. Don’t turn right but keep going straight on and the venue is
just over half a mile from here, just after the bend on the brow of the hill.
Terrain
The terrain is mostly moor land with a steep gully and
marshland at the very bottom of the gully. The venue is excellent for beginners.
This is a popular venue for the Vintage Motor Cycle club and the Schoolboy Two
Day ,as most of the terrain is very rider friendly.
Parking and Accessibility
Parking is on the side of the road at the top of the field.
During dry periods the field is sometimes used for parking.
Access to the
sections for both riders and spectators is excellent as the sections are
normally a short walk from the parking area. Also most sections are clearly
visible from the roadside.
