When travelling from the south of the
island, proceed up the Ballamodha until you reach Foxdale. Continue through
Foxdale until you reach Ballacraine traffic lights, this is where the road joins
the T.T. Course.
Travelling from the west proceed along the Peel to
Douglas road. Pass through St Johns and turn left at the Ballacraine traffic
lights where the road joins the TT course.
Travelling from Douglas, head
towards Peel on the T.T. course. At Ballacraine traffic lights, just on the
approach to St Johns turn right.
Now travel up the TT course to the Glen
Helen Lodge. On the approach to the Glen Helen Lodge there is a wodden bridge on
the right, turn right over this bridge, sign posted Public footpath through
plantation.
When travelling from the north, come down the T.T. course
through Cronk-y-Voddy. Travel down the hill to the Glen Helen Lodge and then
take the next left turn over the wooden bridge, sign posted Public Footpath
through plantation.
When travelling from the south, Douglas or Peel it is
sometimes more convenient and safer depending on traffic to turn-around in the
Glen Helen Lodge car park and then take the next left over the wooden
bridge.
Proceed to the top of the hill into the
plantation. The venue is at the very top of this road in the
plantation.
Terrain
A large plantation with good access to the sections for
beginners. Also there is potential for very good sections for all
abilities.
Parking and Accessibility
This in my opinion can be quite difficult
for people who are unfamiliar with the venue. A lot of riders choose to park in
the Glen Helen Lodge car park and ride up the very long steep lane. If you
choose to park at the top of the lane in the Plantation car park, be careful, as
the road is steep towards the end. This could take its toll on your clutch and
may test your driving ability, SO BE WARNED.
